"Willard: A Life Under Canvas is a triumph of production
and storytelling. It seems fitting that the story of such a historic family of magic be chronicled in such an exceptional
work as this.” - Dustin Stinnett. GENII magazine.
"In
this fascinating book, Charvet captures the many highs and lows in the dramatic Willard saga, tales of a unique family living
their lives in a grueling, exhilarating form of show business that no longer exists. ...A riveting read." - Alan
Howard. MAGIC magazine.
"The book is well worth reading; in
many ways it's an eye-opener, and it is a graphic description of a vanished American entertainment medium - the tent show.
...Author David Charvet is to be commended for writing this worthy biography. It's a fascinating, well-written account.
...I recommend it without reservation." Jim Alfredson. MUM magazine.
The real-life story of a legendary
magic family. For nearly 100 years, the Willard The Wizard Show toured the southern United States with a gigantic magic show
presented under it's own tent. Four men played the role of Willard the Wizard, reaching tremendous highs and heart-wrenching
lows, all the while keeping the show on the road. Much of this story is told firsthand by the surviving Willard children who
assisted both on stage and back stage to bring this amazing show to life. David Charvet spent four years researching and writing
this 370 page story. It features 276 photographs, including eight pages in full color. Hardbound. 11" x 8-1/2" size.
